The primary focus of Elementary Gĩkũyũ is to get anyone to understand both written and spoken Gĩkũyũ and also to be able to write and speak Gĩkũyũ that is understood by anyone that hears, speaks or reads it. The course contains interactive lessons, exercises with feedback and direction and opportunities to have conversation partners if requested. The course establishes a path that allows students to develop at their own pace in the development of their ability to hear, speak, read, and write Gĩkũyũ. Aspects of life, culture and traditions in the Gĩkũyũ world are introduced to students to enable them participate in the meaning making and thought engaging physical, social and political worlds which the Agĩkũyũ inhabit.
